Using creative psychological interventions with adult cancer patients to improve psychological outcomes.

We conducted a systematic review to explore the use of creative psychological interventions (such as drama therapy) with cancer patients, with a view to exploring their efficacy in reducing psychological difficulties experienced by adult cancer patients. The published paper can be found here. We found that there is some evidence that creative psychological interventions benefit adult cancer patients with respect to anxiety and depression, quality of life, coping, stress, anger and mood. However, there was no evidence to suggest that any one type of CPI was especially beneficial.
